Day 1 of the Weekend Warrior has been moved to Spicewood on Lake Travis.
After challenging investigations & considerations of 4 different race locations we have been ever-so fortunate to have friends donate their homestead and dock area for our staging and finish site. Please be respectful and keep early morning noise down. Information on location for swimmer meet-up, parking issues, and paddler drop-in (different locations) will be forthcoming to those swimming on Friday.
Why the change from Inks? On 9/9/25 the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) suddenly announced that they will be lowering Inks Lake beginning October 1st in order to give property owners the opportunity to remove debris, dredge, and work on docks, retaining walls and other infrastructure. (LCRA announcement here)
Because of the dangers of unknown obstacles, as well as the inability to launch necessary safety/transportation vessels, we find it necessary to change sites for 2025 from Camp Longhorn to Lake Travis on Friday 10/24.
Swimmers will be boated from the meetup area to the start site and finish at “meetup” area. Feel free to contact me with questions or LMK if I can help. As mentioned, more details coming soon.

VALENTINE LAKESIDE in Kingsland is our start-site. Fun-loving Valentine hosts, Pat & Susan, offer swim rates for their apartment units (w/ kitchens) & also offer RV hookups. The Valentine is the start site for Friday’s swim, and just “down the road a bit” (15-20 min.) from Sat. & Sun. swims.

SWIM THE CANYON
Sunday, 10/26/25 — Lake Marble Falls

Finish the weekend with a challenging swim under the Hwy. 281 Bridge, around the bend and through the 150-or-so million year old canyon. Passing towering cliff sides all the way to the buoys placed before Starke Dam . . . and then back to the park.
Swimmers and paddlers check-in at Lakeside Park beach area on the lake side of the community center. This year we will be staging toward the end of the peninsula. Parking is at end of parking lot that runs next to pool and Community Center.
